Lucas Alcides Cáceres is an Argentinian violinist and composer, holding a degree in Argentine Music from the Universidad Nacional de San Martín and advanced studies in composition at the University of Maimónides in Buenos Aires.

As a composer, arranger, and producer for the Orquesta Típica El Afronte (Buenos Aires, Argentina), he spearheaded the creation of their third album, Tango Argentino Today (2019), released under the ACT Music label. This critically acclaimed work, a milestone in the orchestra’s artistic evolution, was followed by an international tour featuring performances at iconic venues such as the Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg), Berliner Philharmonie, and Theaterhaus Stuttgart.

Committed to music education, Lucas co-directs the Tango School Orchestra in Trevelin, Chubut (Argentina), alongside Vera Seyda. This initiative, part of the Arcos al Sur Musical Development Space, fosters collaborative practice through classic tango arrangements, refining technical and expressive elements of the genre over three consecutive years (2021–2023).

In 2023, Lucas contributed to the EP Arcos al Sur + Jonatan Szer, blending original compositions with the innovative percussion of Jonatan Szer to showcase a taste of the cultural richness of South American region. That same year, he earned the International Category prize at the New Tangos Composition Contest hosted by the National University of Arts (UNA, Argentina).

Currently, Lucas is developing Tango Transcriptions for Everyone (2024), a project dedicated to meticulously transcribing century-old tangos. This archive aims to enrich pedagogical resources for future generations of tango musicians. Concurrently, he is finalizing his certification as a Professor of Argentine Music.

Lucas Cáceres’s work is defined by relentless exploration, expanding the boundaries of Argentine music and tango through performance, education, and preservation.
